The Old Fourpenny Shop Hotel

One of the nicest places we have stayed in. The room in the courtyard was spotless with everything we needed and the pub was just perfect. We ate there and the Sunday roast was faultless with delicious gravy! My husband had the gammon-so thick and succulent. Everyone was so friendly and we will definitely be recommending it to others.

The rooms were large with lovely en-suite. Spotlessly clean and very comfy beds

Great location in a lovely old town, and close to the castle.

Our plans had changed and i booked two consecutive nights separately in the hotel. On arrival i told reception staying 2 nights.. Reception, young european woman, was not friendly and I was allocated a room in the courtyard on arrival and told i would move to a different room next day. Inconvenient -i asked to remain in room. Room was freezing, slept with coat on; i informed reception.. Next morning, was 'told' by same woman to leave my room by 11, new room not available till after 2pm. I left with my bags at 10am and returned at 9pm, told i am in the same room, after having to be out all day. I mentioned room was v.cold, reception said noone else was cold so it was me. But they had put extra heater in room. No extra heater and room radiators off. Went back inside to receiption, heater was brought over, put on. didn't work. back again inside - all the time the weather was freezing. Verdict - management totally unsuited to run hotel, better a jail. Room was ok, but outside in parking lot. Food was good. But never again. room

Lovely pub with friendly staff. Good selection off food and drinks so we didn't need to go d anywhere else to go for an evening meal. Accomodation was good. Nice and clean room with plenty of space. Will definitely visit again. Parking was an issue on Saturday night as only a small car park round the back which we didn't know was full until we drove through the tight archway then had to reverse back as no room to turn around in carpark.

Central location, comfortable rooms and excellent food choice

We stayed for two nights, meeting up with friends. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished and decorated. The bed was a very small double though, I don’t think it was even a normal double size, luckily we’re not big people but I could imagine it being a problem for some. Everything else was spot on; we had a lovely meal on the first evening, 10% off food and drink for guests. First class breakfast with a really good range of cooked food as well as fresh fruit, cheese, ham and cereal. The area was quiet and the hotel was an easy and pleasant walk to the town, castle and restaurants. The entrance to the car park is narrow but we got through with our Land Rover Discovery so most cars should be fine. We would definitely stay there again and recommend the hotel.here were lots of locals in the bar which is always a good sign.

Property was perfect, staff so friendly. Very clean and well maintained Food was fresh and well cooked.

This is a smallish, nice friendly pub/hotel. Parking is through the small archway seen to the left of the front entrance. Not many spaces but we had no problem parking. The food in the evening was excellent with a good choice and a specials board. Lots of locals in the pub eating and drinking which is obviously a good sign. Breakfast was likewise excellent with a good choice of cooked breakfast and/or cereals and fresh fruit and yoghurt available. I particularly liked the thicker cut bacon...yum! There are other restaurants within a short walking distance if you prefer (one about 50 metres!) Warwick castle and St Mary's church are both an easy 10 to 15min walk away. TIP: DON'T MISS THE FALCONRY DISPLAY!! When we arrived there was a problem with the room not being the one that we had booked...and much smaller. This was promptly sorted out with an upgrade to an even larger room than we had booked. ALL businesses have problems from time to time, but the mark of a 'good' business is in the way that they handle those problems. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Comfy bed, great breakfast, lovely location for everything. Staff very welcoming.
