Hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment, so facilities were limited. Room was very comfortable and quiet.
car park completely flooded, so had to park on the main rood a fair walk away more importantly the hotel is having major renovation which is not advertised at all. Breakfast was shocking.
I think the car park needs some better lighting. We liked the hotel but maybe the carpets needs replacing in the reception area as they are quite worn.
No heating on arrival. Fixed over the course of the next 2 hours by helpful staff. Door handle on inside of bathroom coming off. Base of shower glass in terrible state and water had leaked from the shower base through the wall into the bedroom area and had not been repaired or redecorated. Not at all what you expect from Best Western.
Some parts of hotel are showing signs of wear and could do with a touch up
We found the staff very helpful, the location of the hotel absolutely amazing and our room very comfortable. We had an evening meal, mine was specially requested and just as I wanted, hubby enjoyed his, too. I was slightly disappointed to have only a shower, no bath, and some areas could do with an upgrade, but overall the Dolphin was good, and we would stay there again if in the area.
The hotel is very well situated, in St. Ives, has a great car park easy access to local business. However the hotel is in a poor state of repair - very dated and the rooms have an uncleanly feel to them due to this. Had a reasonable stay here for work but is certainly no higher then 3 stars. I have been to other Best Westerns which have been far more pleasant.
A few minutes walk to the town centre. Our room was functional
Shocking, I have stayed here a number of times, and every time I leave I question why I went back, this time was very similar. On checking in there was the usual long wait for other to check in, it really wouldn't take much to have more staff at peak times. On checking in and receiving my room card I walk off to the room, there were workmen there at the time putting what looks like an internet cable in, well lets just say I would never employ them, loose exposed cable hanging in the hall way, mess and dust on the floor, even the day after the work was completed. So I open my door to the room and find that I have 2 x singles, not what I had booked, so I walk back down the stair with my luggage only to be told that they are fully booked. when I enquired about why my booking was wrong, they stated that Expedia has not provided the room details, this I am guessing is incorrect as I have been issued with my correct booking previously, however this was the second time my room was wrong. The receptionist did explain that she could not do anything until the manager came in, which would be 10 the next day, I spoke to the other receptionist staff the next day, nothing on the file, no message from the manager and no discount applied to my bill. I had booked and paid for 3 nights, however only stayed for 2. Location is great, but the hotel is such a let down,, and clearly poor customer service.
