Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort - All Inclusive

The food, staff, and nighttime entertainment (especially the bands) was amazing. They could do a better job with daytime activities and be more lively in that respect. For example, water aerobics could have been better with music and lively and Zumba would be nice, etc. However, the foam party is not to be missed. Overall, we were incredibly impressed and would go back. We felt safe at all times and were well fed!

The hotel overall is beautiful. Pools are great, hotel is clean, staff is very polite, and location is unique. A few important watchouts to be aware of. 1) Internet - we were shocked and disappointed to learn at check-in that Internet was not included and we need to pay $15 per day per device. there is also zero common area use in the lobby for free either. 2) all inclusive was not indeed all inclusive. The hotel charges extra for premium alcohol and drinks. $100 per day per person 3) restaurant access - there were virtually no reservations available during the entire week that we stayed. This hotel does hidden fees and gimmicks which was not acceptable upon check on. We expressed our discontent with the Internet situation given that I needed to work remotely during our trip. The receptionist had zero sympathy and even took 5 minutes to find the fine print hidden in Orbitz booking which vaguely eluded to Internet could be an additional charge. If it’s not clear during the booking process, then something is wrong. I would recommend factoring in these additional costs when selecting your hotel. We paid $3800 for our package through Orbitz and ended up having to pay a lot of extra money which was unexpected. This is neither honest nor transparent pricing. If the hotel and Orbitz simply put in bold print, all of the extra costs the customers will absorb, they would likely have a different outcome with attendance at this hotel.

Overall this hotel is extremely nice. The rooms are clean, property is new, The facilities are nice, and the pools are very nice as well. A few items that I would highlight regarding booking with this hotel to be aware of. Unacceptable fees disclosed at check in: we booked an all inclusive package paying close to $3,900 for the week. While completing the check in process we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to premium drinks which would have cost an additional $100 per day per person. We have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts and this is the first time that has ever happened. We were told that Wi-Fi was not included in our stay and that if we wanted to have access, it would cost $15 per day per device. We asked if there was common area access to Wi-Fi at minimum and the answer was no. I had shared that this was unacceptable and this is not what we paid for. I had to do work during the trip and had we known this, we would have booked at another location. We asked if the hotel could give us Internet access given that it is not listed anywhere on the booking. Had a very long conversation regarding the lack of transparency for the amenities with the hotel. The staff member took about five minutes to locate the fine print on the Orbitz booking that said that Internet could be an additional charge. Not transparency There is minimal entertainment in the evening. Roughly 1 hour show per night. If you want A quiet resort, this is the place for you at night.

I have stayed here 4 times. The first 2 visits i fell in love with the place. But each of the last two visits all the amenities i have come to love and enjoy have all been slowly taken away. My “room upgrades” are seemingly to a crappier room that no one would want moving me further and further away from everything. To get back to all the things i enjoy is now upgrade after upgrade. All reasonable dinner times are reserved for people who bought the upgrades. This is no longer the resort i fell in love with. Time for me to move on.

The spa was an excellent experience. Staff were amazing. The massage on the beach was fantastic. I highly recommend Maria. One of the best massages I have ever had.
