Adequate hotel but the rooms we stayed in were quite dated. There are some refurbished rooms but suspect they are marked at a higher price. Would be ok with that if it was clear on the website (which it's not) Interesting location for the breakfast. Great view up there. Breakfast not so accommodating towards western delights. Wifi unnecessarily complicated to log in. Ended up not using it.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment for 3 nights. Originally we were checked into room 13G and due to some smells that I can only describe as old library or thrift store smell, we requested a room change. The staff were accommodating and put us in 23G, which was slightly better. First thing to note is that a 4-star hotel in China is not the same as a 4-star hotel in North America. The apartment we stayed in was located in a separate tower than the main hotel rooms, and seemed significantly worse for wear than the standard hotel rooms (my family stayed in a standard room last year and found it satisfactory, which was the reason why we stayed here). Things we liked about this hotel: location, reasonable price, and being able to stay in one apartment as a family. If you’re from North America, the apartment in this hotel is reminiscent of a poor decision many years ago to stay at a Howard Johnson in Detroit. One of our bathrooms had a clogged shower drain, and the carpeting in the rooms were suspect. Having stayed in other hotels in China, I fully understand that the beds are firmer than the standard North American mattress, but this bed was hard as rock. After 3 nights of sleeping here, I developed quite the sore back (and I’m in the prime of my life!). My recommendation is that if you pick this hotel to stay at, steer clear of the apartments and opt for an upgraded room in the main tower instead.

3.5 overall

We rented an apartment, which had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. The overall apartment was very nice. The kitchen had no plates, bowls, cups, or silverware, however, which made it very difficult to use. The WIFI was poor and we couldn't get it to work, but since we had our own WIFI router, it wasn't necessary for us.

Very nice location, within walking distance to Macau. Conveniently located near bus stations, taxis are readily available near hotel front door. Many great restaurants nearby.

Decent Hotel

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Room size is reasonable, toilet with bath tub but not very big. Furniture in the room is abit old and bed abit on the hard side but still ok for us. It is located within walking distance of the Gong Bei checkpoint if you know the route otherwise you can take a taxi which wouldn't cost very much (hotel-checkpoint about RMB10). There are quite a number of eateries near and around the hotel. Hotel staff are ok but the room TV is a disappointment. Though it has many TV channels, you would need to scroll up/down 1 by 1. They isn't any key pads for you to key direct to the channel you want. Hotel needs some upgrading.

hotel almost 30 minutes walk from Gongbei Port.

Note sure how Expedia package it, but it says breakfast included. when we arrived at the hotel we were surprised breakfast was for 1 person only. Expedia, if you need to say breakfast included, then state it clearly, not in some small prints after i read the invoice. So we have to pay for my wife's breakfast. Hotel staff were ok but should concentrate on serving current customer till finished. During my checkout, the staff turn her attention to some locals wanting to check-in and another wanting to check-out instead of asking them to wait for their turn. wifi is free but no password protection so we end up using data roaming. The hotel is a bit on the old side, nice view if you're on top floors, rooms are small considering this hotel was standing before 1992. bed was too soft and generally sag. breakfast buffet was the same for the 2 mornings consisting of the usual stuff. Only consolation is the restaurant is revolving, so we get to see Zhuhai all around us.

Helpful and friendly

We, my wife and I, check-in on 3 June 2018. We were delighted as the check-in process smooth and quick. The room, 1813, was clean and comfortable... one of the best hotel rooms we had stayed. My wife birthday was on the following day. We were suprised to receive a red rose and chololate. Awesome! On 29 floor, the restaurant was the best time we had. Besides the delicious food and cosy environment, we were very grateful to be served by the staffs. Beautifully, we have met a new friend, restaurant deputy manager, Ms Kitty. Ms Kitty was friendly, professional and sincere in helping us including photo taking (in the restaurant). She also gave us her warm and lively smiles. My wife was very happy. Ms Kitty's working attitude is laudable; and deserves a distinction... above Grade A. Importantly, we friendship begins here at Guangdong Hotel Zhuhai.
