Not a great night”s sleep

Room was tiny. There was no bulb in the bedside light, no batteries in the TV remote and no tissues. All resolved except for tissues? I’m not sure how a hotel runs out of such a basic item. The bedroom curtains were made of a heavy satin and had been widened with a different fabric. Sadly this still left them a good 8 inches narrower than the windows. Not conducive to a good night’s sleep. In the plus side, the conferencing facilities met all our needs

A rusty start

After a period of closedown it was inevitable that the staff should be a little rusty and the service level did definitely improve as the weekend progressed. An example. When I asked the barman for a Margarita he told me they didn’t sell pizza!!!

Comfortable Stay

We booked in at 10.30pm - very friendly receptionist. Room very comfortable, clean and temperature just right. Bed very comfortable, pillows just right. Bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was good quality. Served straight away, no waiting. Couple of comments not complaints 1 packet of biscuits with in room tea would of been appreciated. Music in breakfast room rather loud, we needed to talk over it. Would definitely stay here again

Cold, dark and out-dated

Check in went well but quickly went downhill after that. Room, in a separate building, was small and very cold, with poor lighting and worse tv reception. Bathroom was warm but shower was more like a dribble. Booked dinner in the restaurant at check-in, but table was not ready when I arrived. When sat down I was told the waiter would return in a few minutes to take my order, but twenty minutes later, and now very cold, he had not returned despite serving other people. It was not busy but he seemed to forget I was there. Maybe due to it being so dark you could hardly read the menu, which consisted of only 3 main course options and was nothing like the menu shown on the website. Also this had no prices on, so had no idea how much anything was. Finally ordered and got the food, which was average at best. Very small portion of mash potato and almost raw veg, thankfully the sausages and gravy were hot and tasted ok. This helped convince me that the £15 they wanted for breakfast would not be worthwhile! Returned to the small room and realised how small the 'double' bed was. I had to sleep diagonally and still had my feet over the edge of the bed. Not what I expected looking at the website image, and will not be rushing back there again.

Quite a strange place, quiet, suites are ok defiantly pay for room upgrade you will not like standard. Staff were very nice two young people that seemed to do everything.

Stay was worth its money, Room was clean however poor lightening in the room we stayed in. Bathroom lovely and clean. Was a little creepy during the night !

Lovely house, comfortable beds

Our stay was brief but comfortable. The gentleman at the desk when we checked in late was very friendly and helpful. He led us all the way to our room in the South Wing, which is a separate building from the Manor House. The house was beautiful and my husband and I intend to come back for a longer, more romantic (i.e. without my mother) stay in the main house. The decoration of the house itself is a bit sparse, like when you first move into a place, but the bones of the old house are truly beautiful.

Clichley Hall

Had a lovely overnight stay at Chlichley Hall, lovely grand hotel. Lovely meal on the evening, however they were running a reduced menu so not much choice. Bar was very small. Not so good……. The double bed was the smallest I’ve slept in, im only 5ft 5” and my feet were hanging out the bottom! God help you if your over 6ft! Not so good……. I asked for a fan for the room, I’m of a certain age and prone to night sweats! The fan was brought for us, unfortunately it didn’t work and the PAT Test was 10 months out. Good …… breakfast was absolutely delicious!

Lovely period hotel

Lovely period hotel, with a quirky layout. With a few updates it could be stunning, but we had a very comfortable stay in a junior suite, which was a very good size and well appointed with a comfy bed. Staff were accommodating and put us in a room with a bath tub as requested. Only disappointment was that I specifically booked dinner on the night we stayed which was confirmed in writing, however when we arrived we were told there was no dinner service that evening. Thankfully there was a great local pub just a mile away so problem solved, but it could have easily been avoided with better communication between the hotel staff. That small issue aside I would definitely stay again as the hotel setting and rooms are lovely.

Nice old place with friendly staff

Very quiet area which was perfect. The single room was small with a comfortable bed. Didn’t try the TV or coffeemaker. The blind on the window was down and broken ( so whoever cleaned the room must have noticed) I rolled it up to get daylight in. The heater in the bath room was on full blast and the dial to change it was broken. I didn’t complain as I know hotels had a hard time and cash for small repairs will be low. The service was great. Very welcoming and friendly. Had the feeling the team likes to work there and look after customers. Nice to see. The dinner was overpriced and the chicken dry. Won’t eat dinner again. However; the breakfast was great full continental and English breakfast. Booked myself in again but this time into a double room. Review to be continued 😄
