Hotel Casona Solar

A lovely hotel - with a lovely courtyard just a few blocks from the plaza. Staff were exceedingly helpful with making things happen (our Uber to the colca kept cancelling - and the staff rapidly arranged alternative transport). The room itself was a little peculiar - I think a function of the old colonial architecture - there wasn’t much natural light or air and the room got very warm during the night.

We came to Arequipa for our son's wedding. There were seven rooms reserved by wedding participants. We were so impressed by the professionalism and helpfulness of the staff. The courtyards were perfect for friends and family to gather. The rooms were all unique and beautiful. This was my favourite hotel during our stay in Peru. Thank you, Hotel Casona Solar!

Wonderful place. The room was adorable and the patio space was great. The staff was so kind, even packing us a lunch when we had to leave early (missing breakfast).

Beautiful property with 2 courtyards to enjoy. Our room was very large family apartment and the beds were very comfortable. Good breakfast. Outstanding staff service and friendliness, they helped us book bus tickets and taxi and their laundry service was good.

Great little boutique hotel located very conveniently close to the main plaza with a beautiful courtyard.

Lovely stay: nice room, friendly and professional staff that speaks English, beautiful and serene courtyard and gardens, excellent breakfast, nice boxed lunch when we had to leave early, close to the main square, restaurants and shops (walking distance) yet away from all the noise. Affordable laundry service. Things to improve: install more shelves in the bathroom shower and by the sink, install a white shower curtain that would let more light into the shower, slightly improve cleanliness by washing bed skirts and duvet covers more often (bed sheets were crispy and clean). Things that cannot be improved: room ventilation is lacking as there are no windows that can be opened and left open if it gets too hot. Room sometimes felt stuffy and hot. Would stay in this hotel again.

A wonderful small hotel with beautiful gardens and very helpful and friendly staff. Nice rooms although we all wished for a window that can open or some kind of adjustable room ventilation. Also, bathroom would benefit from extra shelves in the shower and by the sink, as well as from a light colored shower curtain (to let more light into the shower). Other than that, room was spacious and clean and quiet. This was a peaceful oasis in the middle of a busy city. Would stay here again.

My husband and I stayed overnight. Arrived late and left before breakfast. When leaving they presented us with a packed continental breakfast which they volunteered without us asking. The hotel was sqeaky clean. I could not find a spec of dust in the main areas or our triple room which was double storey with two bedrooms, lounge/dining, kitchen and separate bathroom. Wifi was excellent.

Amazing! The 17th century colonial building is renovated into unique rooms, and we were offered three to choose from. Lovely courtyards to relax in, three blocks from main square, yet quiet inside. Excellent breakfast, helpful staff. Best hotel of our trip!

Everything, from the room (space and comfort) and personnel were great. They even offered us to stay in our room after check out, as they knew we had a very late flight. I would have given it a 10 out of 10, had I had a tiny bit more light in the room, and few additional smiles at the check-in. I realized however - later on- that people in Arequipa are polite in kind, despite the fewer smiles at times. I do recommend this place, and as a bonus, you get to sleep in where a former Peruvian president lived!
