Palais de Chine Hotel

I travel a lot for work and pleasure. In a long sea of similar hotels - Palais de Chine hotel stood out as a favorite in the last year. Clean, with really nice staff. The hotel doesn't look like normal corporate hotels. Room was comfortable, shower was great and it felt like home. Really satisfying stay.

Professional, friendly staff; comfortable room/bed; could do with stronger water pressure in shower; underwhelming buffet, e.g., fruit selection could have been better. overall, more was expected given reviews and 4.5 star hotel category.

Excellent hotel in convenience location.

Very convenient to everywhere. Shopping mall downstair and near to Train station. However, too dark in the room, better to have more light or brighter lighting. Bathing amenities too small, better change it to a bigger bottle.

The staff was ok. The upside is they have sufficient staff to assist at the entrance or main floor at elevator to give direction. There was an incidence during the stay. They fixed promptly. For the breakfast, they offer various dishes but the quality needs to be improved. I only got few things and they were all cold.

I stayed in Palais De Chine Hotel for four nights and truly impressed about this hotel overall. The location is perfect, centralize to shopping MRT, HSR and next to the Q square shopping and underground shopping street. Multiple banks near the hotel and restaurants. The staff are urgently trying to help you and most of the staff speak English. I was upgraded to VIP lounge with soft drink, snacks, drinks and breakfast 0700-2300 with views of the city.I would sure come back again next time when I visit Taipei with my husband.

This is my 4th visit to this hotel, all good and convenient location attached to Q Square shopping all and the Taipei Main Station.

This a very nice hotel with lots to do within 5 minute walking distance. Customer service was great and helpful. Check in was quick. My only gripe was the lighting. Not enough to see yourself in the mirror clearly. Besides that would come back again on my next trip to Taipei.

The staff at Palais de Chine are absolutely wonderful. The people at Reception and the Concierge service speak English and were incredibly helpful all through out stay. The hotel itself is decorated in an ornate, Baroque fashion fusing Qing Chinese and French Empire influences. This means that it is very, very dark. There is not enough lighting for people with vision problems. Be aware that there is no separate bathroom: the shower and bathroom sink open directly into the bedroom, with the shower/spa tub separated only by a curtain, so there is no privacy and nowhere to change privately. There is a separate cubicle for the actual toilet, with privacy windows that you can slide shut to separate the toilet from the rest of the bedroom. If you are sharing your hotel room with someone and you want privacy when you bathe and do your ablutions, this is definitely not the hotel to book. It is, however, very conveniently located above all the main train stations and MRT.

Hotel location is convenient for access to metro station. Staff is friendly. The hotel is a bit dated, but still clean. The rooms are nice and spacious. I would suggest brighter light because the rooms are really dark, even with all lights on. The only bright light is in the toilet room, and in the shower. The lighting at the entry and sink area is extremely dim, so it was difficult to find things in your suitcase or to get ready. There is little privacy for the bathroom since the toilet and showers have glass door and are open to the main room -- maybe not a problem if you are with a spouse or significant other, but could be uncomfortable if sharing room with a friend. It was very nice that we got the Expedia VIP Access. The breakfast is limited, but since we got it for free, I am grateful!
