Horizon Inn and Ocean View Lodge

Lovely place. And wonderful friendly staff. I loved the picnic basket with breakfast left at your door at 8:30 every morning. Nice touch. If it's a hot day, which is rare, there is a fan in the room. Most comfy bed ever. I loved it! Thank you!

First time staying in Carmel, went for Big Sur which depending on where you are going in Big Sur is about a 40 min drive from there. This location was great! Restaurants, bars, shopping and the beach are all within walking distance so bring your best comfortable walking shoes because there are plenty of uphills and downhills. The staff is extremely friendly and gave us a guide to what's around popularity of things to do etc. This location was absolutely perfect for our stay. Will definitely stay here again!

Cute spot in Carmel. Close to everything. We walked to the beach each morning. Very safe and comfortable. Would love to come back!

The good: The room was fine, not luxurious, but we were only there one night. We had the handicapped room, so there was extra space. There was a gas fireplace, a keurig, coffee, frig with coffee cream, a microwave, dishes, wine glasses, robes which we used, an iron, and hairdryer. They allowed early check-in which was great, it gave us time to get ready for the wedding. Breakfast is a basket left at you door with bagels, fruit, yogurt, jam and butter. The bad: The toilet did not work right. We had to take the top off and fuss with the plunger in the tank for it to stop running. The worst thing is that the key would not open the door. These were real keys, not electronic cards. The housekeeper had to help us open the door when we arrived, it almost didn't work for her. I watched her pull and lift the door. Thank goodness I payed attention because when we got back from the wedding, late at night, we could not get it open. There is no staff at night. My husband was furious. I played with it like the housekeeper and finally got it open. It caused a lot of stress at 11:00 PM with no staff on site. They are remodeling an area on the grounds and putting in a hot tub and firepit, I think it will be nice when it is done. A couple of the room had chairs and tables outside to sit at, ours did not . Some rooms have ocean views, but the ocean is a long way off, LOL, so don't expect to hear the surf. It is a bit of a walk to Ocean Street and the shops and restaurants, and I am a walker.

Lovely property, excellent staff. Wonderful stay. Only drawback was poor breakfast. Still would definitely stay again.

This was the cutest little property in Carmel! My friend and I booked the bungalow for our recent girls' weekend, and couldn't have been happier with our decision to stay here. Like every other house in Carmel, our adorable little bungalow looked like it came straight out of a fairy tale. There was a king-sized bed, a couch with a pull-out bed (easily queen-sized), a fireplace.. and, get this: a jacuzzi in the kitchen/dining area with a clear view both out the window and the flatscreen TV on the wall in the living room! And of course, who could forget the complimentary Continental breakfast in its cute lil basket that gets delivered to your front door every morning! On-site parking (though may be a bit of a squeeze if you come in anything larger a compact SUV) and walking distance from Ocean, the plaza, and all the restaurants and wineries. Would totally recommend to all my friends and family.
