Straight out of a story book

Simply idyllic. The hotel and surrounds are something out of a fairy tail and almost feels as though it’s a land forgotten. The only downside is it left me wanting… wanting more. Definitely earned a return visit.

Surprised we didn’t have to wash the dishes

Overall the lodge was nice and conveniently located. However the service was extremely disappointing. There was no daily housekeeping, the tavern was closed the majority of my stay, the restaurant was booked out and there was no coffee available for breakfast except a large tin of instant Nescafé. While the tavern was closed the lodge did offer a simplified menu, however after waiting on the phone for 30mins with no answer we had to walk down to reception to place our order and then walk back to our room to wait for it to be delivered. The cause of the issues were “staff shortages”. This should not be the responsibility of the guests to make up for the shortfall. I was surprised we didn’t have to take turns washing the dishes. There was no offer of money back, discount, or any offer by way of apology. Why are you still charging full price when the basics are not being provided. I did provide feedback upon check out however I am still waiting to hear back from them

A very expensive hotel but at the entrance to the Cradle Mountain Park so worth it. Lovely staff but working flat out as understaffed.

For the price and Peppers brand, this hotel does not deliver. The location is exceptional, but the Lodge itself needs work. We stayed at this same property 7 years ago and it has definitely dated. The service is also not what it used to be. Out of the 6 properties we stayed at on our Tassie trip, this was our least favourite accommodation.

Staff where the best part of our stay. They were excellent. professional. Helpful . Nothing was to much trouble. Cheerful. No wifi except in a public lounge . Thus experiencing a lack of privacy both for oneself and I didn't want to listen to other zoom meetings with out head phones. The room was average for the price. With out room service or any media accessible in the room. Great staff ! Well run.

Unfortunately this place is not what is advertised online. It sells luxury lodge in cradle but its more eco lodge. We booked a pencil pine room thinking it would be part of the main building as advertised online( there are no pictures of the lodges seperate to main building) as this was the only room available apart from king billy suite. We were very disappointed when we arrived having paid about 450 a night to find ourselves in an eco room seperate to the main lodge with no wifi and in an outdated room. Maybe worth 250 a night tops for the location alone. There is no wifi for optus users at all. It was a honeymoon trip and we were honestly blown away by the difference of what the accommodation wascompared to what had been shown in the pictures online. Super disappointed. To the credit of the staff onsite, we called them and asked for a possible upgrade willing to pay but they upgraded us to a spa cabin and gave us a bottle of bubbly free of charge for our honeymoon. Amazing service on the day. The food at the tavern was nicer than the highland restaurant and better value for money. BYO drinks as they are overpriced.Forthe walks it is a nice lodge but don't bother with the pencil pine rooms. The wildlife is probably the best part of this accommodation. I saw so many wombats and wallabies. Please be aware jan/feb is snake season at the lodge and they have nesting snakes there, wear appropriate shoes etc. Very close to nature for those that enjoy it.

We were in a lodge with one other attached, so very secluded. The area is really nice with nature walks around the corner. We saw wombats, wallabies, padmelons to name a few. Phone reception was non existent, and there is no WiFi at the lodge. Not sure if this is by design as there is no TV either. There was a private spa in our lodge, which we used everyday. The bed is comfortable. The kitchen has a fridge and tea making facilities, with the pay extra mini bar also available. The staff I felt were friendly enough. Not sure if it was because of Christmas or COVID, but everything was booked out. Couldn't get any fine dining (except for breakfast, which we prebooked), and even the massage was booked out. The location is sort of in between walking or driving. It is 2km from the visitor centre, and a km from the devils sanctuary. We did the almost 3 hour Dove canyon walk which starts and finishes just outside. There are other shorter walks that we did.
