The Gilbert Inn

The place is so nice and a historic house. Walking distance to the beach and shops in downtown.

It's a block away from the ocean. With the exception of the bed, the bathroom and the TV all fixtures are old, it keeps the historical story alive. The bed was incredibly comfortable and although the inn was booked, it was quite, and very clean.

It was very clean and charming. No fridge or AC, but they had a box fan.Highly suggest only booking an upstairs room since the building is old and you can hear folks upstairs moving around, even later at night if you have a downstairs one.

I was evacuated from my home due to fire and booked two nights at the Gilbert Inn at a cost of 391.48 for the two nights. When I arrived, the front desk man was terse as he explained the rules about parking. I explained to him that we had been evacuated and all our belongings that were of any value were in our two vehicles. I asked if their was anyway we could park both on the property. He stated that I could park one of them on the street and I should have read the website more carefully. At this point, I had already checked in but had not gone to our room, we left to go get something to eat. I was so upset that we decided to loose the almost $400 rather than stay in this hotel with its rude staff. We booked two nights at another hotel in the area. After dinner, I return the the Gilbert Inn to check out. I told the young man that we were checking out and why. He stated that I was the one who was rude and I was being placed on a do not rent list. I explained that I did not come in rude, I came in tired, covered in ash, evacuated and crying and he was rude. I tried to contact manager or owner but no one would return my calls.

A nice B&B. Breakfast was minimal. Staff was efficient but not very friendly. I think it was a bit overpriced for a B&B. I would not stay there again

Pros: Excellent customer service Bikes, DVDs, games, beach chairs for guest use Fire pit and loungers outside A block from the beach & bustling Broadway St Friendly service Comfortable rooms Cons: Rooms aren't super soundproof so you can definitely hear other guests Breakfast during covid is sad. You get a box with a few wrapped mini muffins, a cheese stick, some peanut butter, orange juice, and a fruit cup (not fresh fruit). I wouldn't call it breakfast. I've seen other hotels during covid do much better breakfast.

Covid breakfast not good. Charge same prices with out gourmet breakfast. Should lower lower nightly rate to compensate.

Nice people who care about your stay. The hotel is a historic building surrounded by new high rise timeshares. I enjoyed being in the former and not the latter. It was very comfortable and I’ll come back if I drive through again.

It was perfect for a single girl on her own. I felt safe the entire time. There was a great breakfast including a blueberry scone. It was a small room, but it was perfecr for me.
