Horrible customer service with exception of housekeeping and wonderful restaurant staff service, not what I'd expect of a Ritz Carlton brand. Had reservation wrong despite multiple emails to confirm date changes, initial greeting was rude, getting restaurant reservations was like pulling teeth, issue at kids club with no apology from management for any of our multiple issues, so disappointing and would not repeat. Loud music from their lobby performers keeping my children up at night. What 5 star hotel does not provide baby soap/shampoo, they charge 25.00 for it in the gift shop instead, kids sunscreen for 30.00.

First night allocated a pokey room in the corner with virtually no view Moved next day to a much better room ( getting what we paid for ) Hotel a little shabby in places Very comfortable bed Cleaning staff helpful Golf course excellent ( 30% reduction for guests ) Breakfast excellent, although often chaotic Evening meals , variable quality, extremely over priced ( as are the wines ), restaurants often fully booked, for days ahead Would have been sensible for hotel to advise advanced booking is necessary, even before arrival Quiet pool was very pleasant Beach crowded ( and no umbrellas if it was windy ), helpful pool and beach staff

We generally had a good stay, however staying at the Citadel kinda felt like the Ryanair version of the Ritz Carlton. We had the half board package and about 80% of the meals came at an extra charge. Also, it was a struggle securing sun lounges at both the pool and beach, where people would reserve them all day, but only use them for a couple of hours. The hotel has a policy against this, but the staff don’t enforce it and actually help (Spanish) people keep their lounges even when they haven’t left personal belongings, just in case they want to come back. When there’s a waitlist, they also give preference to Spanish people. The beach chairs are also rented out, so although you’ve paid for them as part of your stay, you risk being denied one while they rent it out to someone else. Not cool. The balconies on the rooms are also of a very varying level of attractiveness. We were really lucky to have sun and a great view, but some were in complete darkness. The grounds and rooms could really do with some maintenance and the breakfast buffet is pretty basic. So like Ryanair, it could be really great, but you could be unlucky and you should expect lots of extra charges for the full experience. Other than that, the staff were friendly and let us check out late. Housekeeping was good and restaurant staff were also friendly.

The hotel is good from all prospects. It is clean; amenities are good; service is top class; food at the restaurants were fantastic and resort as a whole is great. The resort would be even better if it had a better pool table; the coffee at breakfast could be a lot better; lighting in the room could be brighter (especially when the day is cloudy, the room is quite dim); gym equipment could be newer. However, overall great place to stay and will come back.

It is very disappointing to figure out our room rate had been double charged. Apparently we had pre-paid the whole amount accommodation fee via hotel.com (proved by our confirmation email ), however the hotel charged the same amount of accommodation fee again upon our check-out. We are frequently travelers, to be honest this is the very first time we experience something like this in a Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Lovely hotel. A big, well kept resort Very family friendly which is great. Although no music around the pool and all the bars close early which to some will not be that great. Nice restaurants

A lovely hotel in a great location with stunning views. We stayed for one night (Sunday) the staff were very helpful. We were unable to eat in the hotel that evening as all restaurants were fully booked. The staff were however very helpful with recommendations for local restaurants we could use. The facilities are very good with a choice of pools or the beach and a train which runs up and down to the beach throughout the day.

Beautiful location, gardens and beach. Friendly service. Only 1-2 restaurants open on any night for huge resort. Incredibly difficult to get around the property which is huge and with steep hills to climb, while golf carts are not in use and parking of car near villas not permitted
