El Dorado Royale, Gourmet All Inclusive by Karisma

The room was clean, the staff was amazing and very helpful and the resort was beautiful.

The property is very pretty and calming. I did visit after the hurricane and they were very busy with clean up! I did not like that all 3 breakfast restaurants have the same menu, and also room service same menu. The food could have been better. The staff doing the pool and grounds activities were exceptional! The wait and bell staff were also amazing. just so let down on the food! also I am in Mexico and could not get ceviche or a shrimp cocktail!!

We were very upset to find out the day we arrived to our resort that the ROYALE was closed. This was our honeymoon and nobody informed us of the changes. Luckily, we were moved to another resort. However, it would have been nice to hAve known of the cha fed ahead of time.

Great food, outdated rooms/ facilities, but amazing staff!!!

We are in our 70's and found our room was on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The exercise of going up and down the stairs was good for us,BUT, when we checked out we requested luggage pick up for 11:30AM and waited until 11:45 at which time we managed to carry our luggage down the spiral stair case, across the property and half way to the lobby before we picked up by someone with a electric cart. Very upset about the service when checking out.

Typical all-inclusive, don’t know why this is 5 stars. Drinks are all very watered down and food was pretty substandard at all the restaurants (except breakfast, which was awesome). They definitely put all their money into appearances, as the resort itself looks very nice and everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. Didn’t like that they’re constantly trying to get you to pay more for certain things though. It’s an all-inclusive so you’d thing it would be ALL inclusive (you have to pay for ice cream??) Overall, not a bad resort, just not a 5-star one.

The photographs of the beach are a lie. The whole water front is actually covered with huge concrete blocks which look like anti invasion landing craft barriers and huge black sandbags which look like dead whales. This very ugly barrier stretches more than a mile along the whole front of the resort. The photos of the beach on Expedia and the resort website have been fraudulently altered to erase these ugly things. This was a huge disappointment. Also, there are almost no shuttles in the evening and we ended up walking to and from restaurants on the resort every evening often a mile away. There is no turn down service at night something which all the 4 and 5 star resorts we have stayed at previously have offered. This resort is pretty but lacks the details we have come to expect from high end Mexican resorts. But the fraudulent beach photos are in our opinion a serious issue. They just do not show the reality of this horrible waterfront.

The property stretches for around a mile along the beach with a very nice walkway for the entire length. We also enjoyed walking around the grounds, which were lush and nicely kept and had numerous walking paths. The road to the resort passes through the jungle and it is possible to also walk into the jungle and see spider monkeys, coatimundi, and other interesting birds and animals. There are four cenotes on the property which can be visited on a guided tour once a week. I also enjoyed snorkeling around the artificial concrete reef. So with an opportunity for exploration, exercise, relaxation on the beach or around the numerous pools, and the tropical splendor, this resort scores high.
