Simple overnight stay arrived late left early

The room we received had a clogged toilet. Clogged toilet was not resolved. Other similar sized rooms were had no vacancy. Eventually the motel gave us access to a smaller room to use the restroom in. Which meant we had to exit our room to get ready in a room several rooms away

We paid $182 for ONE NIGHT at this hotel. I think $99 would've been overpaying. It is very attractive from the exterior; a quaint single level, well maintained exterior is inviting to the eye and the pictures online give you the perception it is just as nice on the interior. At first glance, the interior isn't all that bad either actually. As we settled in though the flaws became very evident. The laminate flooring had low spots, so when you walked on it, the floor bowed under your feet. There were cigarette burns on the bedding even though it was a non-smoking room. The beds were very uncomfortable and our room was so small that when they squeezed 2 queen beds in there, one was pushed right up against the AC unit preventing the thermostat from working properly so the air would not turn on automatically. The toilet wasn't fastened to the floor, so each time you sat down, it would teter. The shower/toilet room is VERY TINY and was in desperate need of a paint job. The phone didn't work, and the alarm clock wouldn't turn on. There is no continental breakfast or even coffee pots in the rooms (you have to go up to the front desk for that). We booked the room for 2 adults and 2 children and were only provided 3 towels and the tub does not have a plug, so we had to shove a washcloth in the drain to bathe our toddler. On a positive note, there is a fridge and microwave that both worked and it was only a few minute drive to the pier and Canary Row. Would I stay here again? NOPE!

Cold water sink handle didn’t work but was fixed the next day. Bathroom window doesn’t lock so we didn’t leave any valuables in our room.

Fairly good location, Del Monte Shopping center within easy walking distance. Not much local transit to downtown Monterey; about a 20 minute walk to wharf. Facilities are in need of maintenance, tolerable at best with some downright hazardous conditions.
