The Westin Cincinnati

Great location. But, the bed and bathroom (the 2 things most important in a hotel stay) were not up to par. The Westin use to advertise that they have the heavenly bed, well not at this hotel. The bed was so uncomfortable that we barely slept. The bathroom needs a major update. I thought that the shower head was going to fall off the wall. Since it was just a one night stay we didn't bother to complain . But, we won't go back again .

Everything was great except the parking.

Everything was fine until a Housekeeper knocked on our door at 9:15 am.

Westin was a great stay, it was very walkable and close to great dining.

We were told upon arrival that the dogs were absolutely NOT allowed to stay in the room unsupervised even though we brought a crate. This completely changed our weekend plans as some things we had planned could not permit dogs. We were also charged $50 per DAY not per STAY! There is no “green” or “walking” area on premises. You had to walk 4 blocks down hill (uphill on the way back of course) amidst construction etc. to find any sort of non-concrete area. There was no dog bowls or beds provided. You have to schedule a time for them to clean your room when you and the dogs will not be there. We checked in Friday afternoon, scheduled them to come at noon on Saturday, got back Saturday evening and the room had not been touched at all! These are only the problems we had with their “pet” policy which was posted online and a complete lie. While there we had to pay to park in the underground garage. We left for dinner and tried to come back only to find the garage closed except for monthly rentals. We moved the sign and got chewed out by the parking lot attendant only to see the next day, when we took our dogs out, that the “monthly rental only” sign had been taken down and the “credit cards only” sign put back up. When I asked the door man about it on the way back in he said we should park their regardless and if we run into any more issues to have them talk to him, but that didn’t erase the torment of the previous night. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere easier!

The front desk is on the 2nd floor. There are 2 escalators: both were broken. It took me quite a while to find the elevators. If there were signs pointing the way, I didn't see them. I spent some time wandering around the ground floor, which must have been breathtaking in its day. The day I was there, it was dark and dingy. Most everything seemed to be closed. Once I found the elevators, I saw signs saying "For your safety, please limit elevator occupancy to 1 person." Didn't make me feel particularly safe, but I had no issues using them. The desk clerk was polite and efficient, but not particularly friendly. I was required to sign 2 papers detailing misbehaviors for which I could be thrown out of the hotel. I had no intention of doing those things, but it kinda bothered me that they felt they had to tell me not to. The parking garage was cramped and filthy. Once I got to the 8th floor on the (apparently) rickety elevator, things got MUCH better. The hallways were spotless. My room was sparkling, although the recycling bin had not been emptied from the previous guest. The mattress was comfortable. The pillows were too soft. Lighting was good. Power outlets were abundant. Wi-Fi was useless. Overall, I thought that this must have been a first class hotel in the past, but it seems to have fallen on hard times these days.

Very neat, clean , comforting. I had a beautiful city view and all the restaurants, stores and shopping places were in close proximity. Thanks again Hotels.com for letting me book a nice room for less.
