Roughly 30 vendors meet at the intersection of Bull Street and Park Avenue to provide Savannahians with fresh produce, pastured meats, baked goods, and ready-to-eat meals. 

    It’s a fantastic spot to find organic products, as all vendors come from a 200-mile radius around Savannah. The market supports the local economy, with several partners educating the public on proper nutrition. For those who can’t visit the Forsyth Farmers’ Market, Farm Truck 912 rides around Savannah on weekdays to sell seasonal fruits and vegetables to local neighbourhoods.

Here, you can pick up all sorts of seasonal fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. You’ll also find flowers, nursery plants, pumpkins, and even Christmas trees for the holidays.

    Stop by the onsite BBQ joint for filling, lip-smacking meals, or grab a fresh batch of boiled peanuts from the produce shop. Some of the specialities readily available include sugar plums, seedless watermelon, tomatoes, pork rinds, Vidalia onions, and juicy Georgia peaches.

    Zunzi’s

    Home to the “Best Sandwich in the South”

    Zunzi’s combines South African, Swiss, Italian, and Dutch heritage to create one of Savannah’s most diverse menus. Word has spread around the country of their Gatsby sandwiches. The Conquistador is widely known as one of America's best sandwiches after it was featured on a TV travel special. The recipe includes a baked chicken breast, romaine lettuce, provolone, tomatoes, and Zunzi’s sauce and dressing, all served on French bread.

    Although the Conquistador lifted the takeout to fame, don’t sleep on other internationally-influenced recipes like the Rising Sun and Bird Island. You can turn any Gatsby sandwich into a bowl, salad, or wrap. Don’t forget to check out the tempting list of sauces while you’re at it.

The downtown restaurant is just a few blocks from the famous Forsyth Park, bringing families and strangers together with its communal tables Hardworking labourers used to line up for homestyle Southern cooking, and the tradition remains strong today.

    The dedicated staff is always shaking up the menu, though you can expect Southern staples such as fried chicken, beef stew, okra gumbo, collard greens, black-eyed peas, and biscuits. Hungry crowds often come as early as 11 am, so time your visit accordingly. Set aside extra cash for your meal since Mrs. Wilkes doesn’t accept credit cards.
