We had a great time. We really didn't do as much as we could have done at the actual hotel site. There are nice hiking trails, plenty of activities for kids and a water park. Be careful driving in to the property. It's about a nice curvy two mile drive from the main road to the hotel. There are people and horse crossing signs. I almost hit a deer crossing! the room and amenities were great but we had no food or drink. This is a resort in the boondocks and the restaurants were too packed to eat and the bars were all closed. At checkin I encountered several people standing behind a reception desk & a single customer who appeared to be struggling somewhat with a cc issue. The gentleman helping him also helped me checkin strange considering there were several other personnel who appeared available to assist. No one asked me if I needed assistance with my bag(s). I opened […] the drapes to my "patio" as I had booked a patio room to find that the curtain pull immediately fell off & my view was that of the front entrance parking lot. Outside my room someone had placed a glass with cigarette butts in it between my room and the next. The next day, I found no newspaper outside my front door. The dogs started barking across the hall from me. I had no idea this hotel allowed dogs, much less barking dogs. Security told me they had 2 incidents that same evening in the same corridor. Security rectified the issue. The next day I rose once again to find no newspaper at my door and saw that others had papers so I called the hotel staff who immediately rectified the issue. It is now 4 days after my stay and I find that there is still a rather substantial hold on my credit card even though the hotel has already completed their charges to my credit card. So be prepared to have quite a remaining credit limit on your credit card as most of it will be eaten up by your hotel stay. First and last time to stay at this property. Upon arriving i was shocked to see the main lobby in disarray. It was strewn with food, empty coffe cups etc. All of the furniture was moved around as if you were in a college dorm room. When we made it to the front desk i was shocked at not only the level of employees they had working but their attire was […] very unprofessional. Although the girl that checked us in was nice, she didn't know how to check us in since we had pre paid for a room through hotels.com. The hotel was pricey but it stood out because of the above mentioned issues. Then we made reservations at stories. Stories is the fine dinning restaurant on site. A reservation is required. All they had was 8:15 so we took it. Upon arrival at 8:05 we were told by the snooty hostess that "you know you are early for your reservations" and to "go down to the bar and have a drink while we get your table ready". Well tge bar war downstairs and I had a drink already in my hand. So we waited and when she let us know it was ready she informed me that there were no alcoholic beverages allowed from outside the restaurant. When I said "how do you know it didn't come from the bar " she said because that glass came from your room. I was shocked. First of all it wasn't alcohol but she didn't ask. Nor did she care. She had a horrible attitude as soons as we arrived. The dinner was a disaster as well. Overall it felt as if there were a bunch of kids running the property and it showed. I felt this hotel was a little 'out on a limb' as there was no shuttle service to Austin or Bastrop so you had to rely on what was provided at the hotel which could be a bit expensive. "Beautiful hotel but...."
We had a wonderful weekend at Lost Pines and visiting out family. My only two complaints: 1. the self parking lot location is quite a hike depending on hour room location. 2. Noise level in room. "Not worth the money"
The hotel was nice and the grounds are very pretty. However, I thought the quality of the room was not as good as other hotels in the price range. The room was also a bit noisy. Although we prepaid, our bill at check out came with an additional $23 dollar "resort" fee. "The place to go for lots of nature"
The grounds of Lost Pine were very beautiful. I was a little disappointed in the rooms. They were nice, but not the luxuriousness I had expected for the price. We had a celebratory dinner at Stories and the food was scrumptious, but very expensive. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. We loved our visit and will go back! Service was outstanding! Loved the pool area and lazy river! My only complaint is the sprinkler park area needs re-doing. It's worn out and saggy and my kids didn't want to walk on it. Many of the chairs around the pool were mildewed and I didn't want to sit back on them...but they provide great towels. We spent a lot of time in the lazy river. My kids loved everything about it. We never left the resort. We went Rock climbing ($60 pp) and it was at a near by park. Loved it! Will go again. We love the Hyatt at Lost Pines. My children loved the lazy river. My only complaint is that activities are very expensive. My girls wanted to go horseback riding but is was 80.00 per person! They have made some welcome improvements at Lost Pines Hyatt. The new decks around the old pecan trees are heavenly! There is much more shade than years past and it is definitely more comfortable. Beautiful setting. Just outside of town but felt a million miles away. Gorgeous trails, great pools, large rooms, comfy beds, great food and service everywhere except poolside.
