Clarion Hotel and Conference Center – Columbus

This hotel used to be the Holidome, but was recently changed to Clarion. It is a very nice hotel, conveniently located next to I-65. There are plenty of eating facilities nearby. The new Clarion staff didn't seem as friendly as the Holidome staff. They weren't unfriendly and unhelpful, but they didn't go out of the way to be courteous. Also, the swimming pool was a lot colder than it was when it was the Holidome. They used to keep the pool very warm, but during this stay, it was so cold that we didn't even get used to it. So we just got out and used the hot tub, instead. Other than these things, it was a nice stay, and it's still a nice facility. They were doing some renovation, but it wasn't obtrusive at all. My grandsons love to go to the Holidome. They can swim, play miniature golf, and get in the hot tub. Rooms are very reasonable and several restaurants are nearby, plus a Wal-Mart, if you need anything!

Although we have stayed here before, I was not happy this time. Our room smelled very bad and the carpet was filthy. We were switched to a suite, but it only had one bed and was dirty also. We got our money back and went to another hotel.

Upon arrival we were certainly pleased, it was pretty and quiet. Our room was a lot smaller then "the pictures" look. Later in the evening LOADS, I MEAN LOADS OF CHILDREN arrived. They were not really watched by adults. The rooms were very loud, and we were on the outside. My niece stayed with me and had gotten sick, the hotel wa not able to provide […] extra blankets, cleaning supplies or anything to help me clean it. The bathtub mat was so dirty I gagged trying to shower her. They did clean the room and the tub, then ended up moving us because 1 quest had a dog that wa barking for 3 days! And not being taken care of.. the food was amazing if that helps. I will never plan a romantic trip to this hotel again. I was glad to be home to vaca from vaca. Další informace

when i made the reservation i was told that there would be a DJ playing 80's and 90's music for New Years Eve.... when we got there the people working there laughed at us when we asked where the new years eve party was... come to find out the lounge/bar area wasnt even open. we spent new years eve in our room watching TV... it was horrible we were expecting […] to be partying with a DJ and not having to drive anywhere. Not only is the hotel beautifully decorated, it's also very similar to an all inclusive resort (at a much more reasonable nightly rate!). The availability of nice restaurants, quick grab n' go food, sundries, a huge indoor pool, a mini putt putt golf course, pool tables, laundry, and conference facilities made it so that guests could entertain themselves […] and meet their needs without ever leaving the hotel. Nice place, only complaints were the extremely noisy in-room HVAC fan, poorly insulated exterior door that allowed a lot of exterior noise, and ice machines that never worked. Nice free hot breakfast buffet, very nice decor and pool area.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Columbus IN over the weekend. The customer service was good; the room was nice, but the bed hurt my back so badly that I could hardly stand. I needed a hot shower to relieve the pain but there was no hot water when I got in the shower; the best I could get was luke warm. The noise outside our room was constant; we had […] a room near the laundry room I am guessing; we had an outside door; as we heard the linen carts roll past our room all night and all morning and people talking too. Hotel was nice, services was nice. Beds were very firm and hard - too much so for our comfort, but if you like to sleep on a board - good for you.

When we got to the hotel, we were a little early and the room was not ready. We came back at check-in time and the room still was not ready so we were given a suite and a free breakfast buffet ticket for the duration of our stay. That was a nice compensation and the staff was doing their best to be helpful. Nevertheless, when we got to our suite, the […] room was not cleaned or ready either from the previous customer. We called the front desk and shortly thereafter a cleaning person was there. The room was supposed to be non-smoking but reeked of cigarette smell. We found the hotel to be very dark (with a pseudo victorian theme in the lobby, pool and restaurant) and rather worned looking. There is also a strong smell of chlorine permeating the hotel from their indoor pool. The restaurant was OK and the food good. The wait staff was friendly. We had chosen the hotel because it was cheaper than staying in Bloomington where we were visiting some friends. But the 35 mile drive back and forth on a very winding (albeit picturesque) road got old real fast. Not worth the few dollars we saved on the room price. This hotel is probably good if you have children as they have a pool, a game room, ping-pong tables etc... but for us, it did not work so well. The beds were also very hard and we did not sleep well. A Holiday Inn is a Holiday Inn is a Holiday Inn, I suppose (the best surprise is no surprise, right?) but I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the fitness room. If they had just been a little more consistent in enforcing the "no kids without parents after 10PM" rule, they might have gotten five stars in my book.

Great location as 1/2 mile from I-65, major north-south expressway. breakfast buffet OK not spectacular. Behind hotel is paved walking track. Older hotel but maintained OK Best breakfast across street at Greek restaurant, Dimitris. Bill, Peoria, IL

I don't get to excited about hotels because my expectations have dwindled over the years, but I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty, cleanliness and comfort of the entire room. Maybe it was only this room (147), but it was very nice. Highly recommended...

I found the hotel easy to get to from the interstate and easy to get back on. No confusion. Many choices in the way of restaurants and shopping close by. The rooms were very clean and the only sounds we heard were doors closing from other rooms when leaving. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was nice and the rooms were well maintained. The hotel was amazingly quiet even though several guests were there for the Kentucky Derby.

Nice hotel, but not really worth the money.

The hotel is a combination of rooms from yesteryear with a new addition that adds all the amenities. We stayed in an older room! It was clean but very drafty around the door. Heating/AC runs so loud you need to turn up the TV. The new section looks ideal for families with kids. Very pleased with our stay actually the best accomodations we have ever had in Columbus. Loved being next to Walmart...resturants etc....wouls stay again and proabably will, thanks for a good experience and the coffee was good to.

Clean and friendly. I will stay here again.

This is the place to go is you have children, not so much so if you don't want to be bothered by children.

My price from hotels.com was about $20 less than the hotel could offer me directly.
